$ for coding agents

Your agents keep working when you leave the desk

Leave agent CLIs such as Claude Code or Codex running on your server and keep them moving from your phone.

  1. Start the agent in tmux or Herdr

Run it inside a multiplexer on your server. If the connection drops, the session and the agent keep going.

  2. Get told when it needs you

Turn on alerts, and Termexa notifies you when a terminal you are not looking at rings its bell, disconnects, or finishes a long command. Herdr panes waiting for input are marked.

  3. Jump straight in and answer

Open the Herdr Navigator, tap the pane marked Needs input, and reply with the toolbar, agent commands or your voice.

  4. Queue the next step and go

Schedule the next instruction for later tonight. It goes out at the set time even with the screen off, at most a few minutes late in deep sleep, as long as the window stays open.

Your multiplexer, at a glance

See tmux and Herdr sessions, windows, tabs and panes as a list, and tap to land right there. In Herdr, panes where an agent is waiting for input are marked.

Server files, right next to your terminal

Browse folders, upload and download, edit text files, and extract or compress archives right on the server. Bookmark the folders you visit often. Transfers keep going in the background after you close the window, interrupted ones can resume, and the Transfers list shows progress and history for every host.

One row on foldables and landscape

When the screen gets wide, the two-row toolbar unfolds into one so the terminal gets more room. In landscape, the keyboard no longer covers the screen with a full-screen input box.

Input tools made for the terminal

A phone keyboard was not built for shells. Termexa puts the keys and tools you reach for most one tap away — in the toolbar, and in the More panel that opens beneath it.

Scheduled messages

Send text to this window at a set time, Enter included — queue the next instruction for a long-running job or agent and put the phone away.

Voice input

Say it and it lands in the input line as text. The phone's online recognizer is used first for accuracy; turn on Recognize on this device only to keep your voice on the phone.

Quick messages

Save the commands and sentences you type often and insert them with one tap. Enter is left off so you can check before sending, unless you turn on Include Enter when sending for that message.

Attach files, photos and screenshots

Pick a file, a photo, a camera shot or what is on the clipboard: it is uploaded to the server and its path is typed for you.

Your own shortcuts

Combine Ctrl, Alt or Shift with any key to make a button, arrange shortcuts into pages, and choose what sits on the toolbar.

Agent commands

Slash commands for AI coding agent CLIs — compact, model, review, diff and more — typed in one tap.

Hardware keyboard and volume keys

On an external keyboard, use Caps Lock as Ctrl or Esc and Meta as Alt, and turn the volume keys into shortcuts in the terminal.

Copy from the server

Text you copy in tmux, vim or an agent CLI (OSC 52) can go straight to the phone clipboard. Termexa asks once per server, and a server can never read your clipboard.

Know when it finishes

With shell integration (built into fish; a few lines for zsh or bash), get told when a long build finishes, even while you look at another window or app.

Shortcuts shaped to your hands

The toolbar and the More panel are yours to arrange. Change any key, reorder rows, add pages — and the terminal keeps up.

  • Tap a key to change itEvery toolbar slot and every row in the More panel can hold the key you want.
  • Drag rows, flip pagesReorder More rows by their handle and add pages when one screen is not enough.
  • Five keys to a rowFill each row from basic keys, special keys such as attach, voice and schedule, symbols, or plugins like agent commands.
  • Volume keys, tooGive volume up and down a shortcut of their own while the terminal is open.

In the colors you like

Familiar dark and light terminal themes plus the Termexa theme, and seven monospace fonts. Powerlevel10k, starship and editor icons show up in every font, with nothing to install.

Termexa has no developer-operated relay or analytics server. SSH connects to the servers you choose, and credentials are encrypted on the device using Android Keystore. Voice input is recognized by the phone’s speech service (usually Google), and Termexa never receives or stores your voice. By default that service may send audio to its own servers for accuracy; turn on Recognize on this device only to keep your voice on the phone.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices does it run on?

Phones, tablets and foldables running Android 13 or later.

Are my passwords or keys sent anywhere?

They are not sent to the developer. The keychain is encrypted with an Android Keystore key and excluded from automatic backup and device transfer. Passwords and authentication responses are sent over SSH to your chosen server or jump host; private-key authentication uses signatures without sending the private key. A manual backup can include the keychain if you choose.

Do I need tmux or Herdr?

No. It works as a plain SSH shell. With a multiplexer you also get the Navigator and dedicated shortcuts, and your session survives on the server if the connection drops.

Is it a subscription?

No. It is a one-time purchase, with no ads and no in-app subscription.

Which languages are supported?

English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish.

Do Powerlevel10k or Nerd Font prompts display correctly?

Yes. Nerd Font icons and Powerline separators are built into the app and work with every terminal font, so there is no font to install on the phone.
